Ayesha, The Return of She

"Water makes the sand fertile.
Where water falls life comes;
and sorrow is the seed of joy.
Love is the law of life.
I seek love, that I may live.
I believe all these things are ordained to an end I don't know.
Fate draws me on. I fulfill my fate."

innervisions

People hand in hand
Have I lived to see the milk and honey land?
Where hates a dream and love forever stands
Or is this a vision in my mind?

The law was never passed
But somehow all men feel theyre truly free at last.
Have we really gone this far through space and time
Or is this a vision in my mind?

Im not one who make believes
I know that leaves are green
They only turn to brown when autumn comes around
I know just what I say
Todays not yesterday
And all things have an ending

But what Id like to know
Is could a place like this exist so beautiful
Or do we have to find our wings and fly away
To the vision in our mind?

Im not one who make believes
I know that leaves are green
They only change to brown when autumn comes around
I know just what I say
Todays not yesterday
And all things have an ending

But what Id like to know
Is could a place like this exist so beautiful
Or do we have to take our wings and fly away
To the vision in our mind?

some quotes of the day ---stay woke

'I refuse to settle for a cup, I want the well; I must be connected to the life source.' Stop treating God like a caretaker you call when you've made a mess and need someone to clean it up; or as your 'go-for' person when you need something you can't otherwise get.
~David
Don't go to God for a miracle, go for a relationship; and you can walk in His miraculous provisions every day.
~Bob Gass (TheVine)

Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it so that the other half may reach you
~Khalil Gibran

Indeed, the interests of the oppressors lie in “changing the consciousness of the oppressed, not the situation which oppresses them”;[1] for the more the oppressed can be led to adapt to that situation, the more easily they can be dominated.
~Paulo Freire

My next thesis -Weldon Irvine

"I wanted people to see that I was somebody who wasn't just talking about shake your booty, let's have a good time. Every now and then I'll do a fun song, but I'm far too serious about how messed up the world is to trivialize my talents by catering to the dictates of the commercial marketplace."

inspired 2

Now my friends, I am opposed to the system of society in which we live today, not because I lack the natural equipment to do for myself but because I am not satisfied to make myself comfortable knowing that there are thousands of my fellow men who suffer for the barest necessities of life. We were taught under the old ethic that man's business on this earth was to look out for himself. That was the ethic of the jungle; the ethic of the wild beast. Take care of yourself, no matter what may become of your fellow man. Thousands of years ago the question was asked; ''Am I my brother's keeper?'' That question has never yet been answered in a way that is satisfactory to civilized society.
Yes, I am my brother's keeper. I am under a moral obligation to him that is inspired, not by any maudlin sentimentality but by the higher duty I owe myself. What would you think me if I were capable of seating myself at a table and gorging myself with food and saw about me the children of my fellow beings starving to death.
~Eugene V. Debs

inspired

Love, like truth and beauty, is concrete. Love is not fundamentally a sweet feeling; not, at heart, a matter of sentiment, attachment, or being "drawn toward." Love is active, effective, a matter of making reciprocal and mutually beneficial relation with one's friends and enemies.
Love creates righteousness, or justice, here on earth. To make love is to make justice. As advocates and activists for justice know, loving involves struggle, resistance, risk. People working today on behalf of women, blacks, lesbians and gay men, the aging, the poor in this country and elsewhere know that making justice is not a warm, fuzzy experience. I think also that sexual lovers and good friends know that the most compelling relationships demand hard work, patience, and a willingness to endure tensions and anxiety in creating mutually empowering bonds.
For this reason loving involves commitment. We are not automatic lovers of self, others, world, or God. Love does not just happen. We are not love machines, puppets on the strings of a deity called "love." Love is a choice -- not simply, or necessarily, a rational choice, but rather a willingness to be present to others without pretense or guile. Love is a conversion to humanity -- a willingness to participate with others in the healing of a broken world and broken lives. Love is the choice to experience life as a member of the human family, a partner in the dance of life, rather than as an alien in the world or as a deity above the world, aloof and apart from human flesh.
~Carter Heyward

Happy Easter

Another awesome Sunday Service...I'm here to share the word...hope you receive :D

The Power of the Resurrection:
Phil 3:10-16

The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives with in us.
When we allow ourselves to grow in him, we have access to the power of the resurrection.

None of us came to God ourselves. We were called. We engage in all of Christianity, to understand why He took hold of me; Why did She draw near to me.
  • What purpose does She have for our lives?
  • It is a journey to finding this out, but it is worth the journey.

God designed us to be a partaker of the the power of God. We all desire this, but there are somethings we can't neglect.

  • Are you interested in the suffering and death that needs to be brought to pass before we can experience the power of the resurrection?
  • "There is a price to pay for the prize."
  • "Nobody paid jack for salvation. For us it was free. But Jesus paid for it."
  • We must think about the price we have to pay for the prize.

The power of God/ of the resurrection can be made available, but there is an entire package if you want the power.

  • We must fellowship with His discomfort.

(side note) There are many that are following Him because of what they can get. This is why God sometimes doesn't give the best of Him to us as He knows our hearts.

  • God can't lend you the power if you don't have a "spiritual six pack." "You need to be the Exterminator in the spirit."
  • Many of us are not pressing forward. It is time for us to press.

There is a reason God saved you. You were designed to do something that only you can do.

  • How true are you to your OWN assignment?
  • Sometimes we experience frustration because we are pressing in someone elses lane.

We must learn how to forget the things in the past and learn to look toward the things ahead.

  • Your history can hinder you from your destiny

  • "Admit it, quit it, and forget it." -T.D. Jakes

  • You can never base your life on the agenda of people: People will not let you forget, when God has already forgiven you.

  • God will qualify you for a position that you are not "deserving." That's what favor does.

  • Forget past mistakes and past GLORIES

YOUR BETTER LIFE IS AHEAD OF YOU :)

aawww shnaap to da famo -we hangin owt

lets get that electric feel in...cuz its all brown FIFs/ go girl, go girl

seeking answers

IF ANYBODY TELLS YOU WE'RE IN A POST-RACIAL AMERICA
LOOK 'EM DEAD IN DEY EYEZ
AND SAY:
"DON'T YOU BEAR ME NO FALSE WITNESSES."

wish i could be profound. but i'm just baffled.
black folks got robbed yesterday...
in too many ways.
if u thought today was different from yesterday
stop blinkin so much
and use attention to pay
we gosta stay woke
listen to how they spoke
cuz its the same shystuff they sayin today
just covered in a different cloak
but sometimes if ya lucky
the language won't change
the handcuffs were once chains
the whip -we still feel the the pain
don't syt there and think that that was an old day
it is a new day
wit the same ole shystuff done in a new way
we gosta stay woke
cuz only masta teachas transcend and stay alive
its the NIGG#*! they want dead
its gon be the NIGG@#$ that die
tuff stuff
think we been desensitized
to this kinda way of lyfe
where all things that r wrong seem right
so its a pathology to fight
we dance and keep our lipstight
but lil did we know the eruption
of ill consumption
got us clenchin fists at the wrong tyme
they not bein raised no mo
but directed at the folks that look like I
we can all ask why
but don't close your eyes
and you won't have to even try
to see our genocide and demise
dead women and men walking
they have killed our insides
complain, whine, cry
is not the way to combat the crime mind
cuz they'll slaughter and slaughter
till every son hung and we become
sprawled raped daughters.
to paint the city in red
add it to our flag
and sang some anthem for the dead
we can't sit on the side lines
watchin w/ the blind leadin the blind
the only time to close eyes
is to be in praya
i crouch in a corna hopin for rainbows
and wishin for the sunrise
misty mornin
i can't see no sun
i know ur out there somewhere
havin fun'
i digress
no lie -yesterday was a mess
but this scene has been played and replayed
and each time i try to process
thinking what should we do next
write theory and research
get in the picket line and
scream 'til they've heard
i'm hurt
but i'm not gon hit you
naw brotha
sista i won't hit you
tho i feel a thousand blows to my chest
ima try to get rest
amidst unrest
but if you conscious
u'll find sleep is a deathtime away
cuz they blast noise of injustice
and its keepin me awake
but then some may just turn that noise into music
and dance to it
we groove to it
and like the wolf that licks the blade
put in tha ice by the hunta
we drink our own blood
killin ourselves
its a cold asbutt summa
and tha heat's thick in tha winta
we livin and breathin death
amidst it all
i try to catch my breath
and i'm askin
what should we do next?!?!
elect a Black prez
perhaps we can build on dat
but its mos def not just that
some may be high on da hog
but some die off da hog
so to my dying breed stay woke
so we can get found up out this los(t/s)
i
think
im
done

i mean
not until the battle's won
ima try to get my masta teacha on

i'm done...

it was sooo tight
made up her face
cheeks, lips, eyes

layed her hair
to the side
strapped on her heals

she took one look in the mirror
and exclaimed
"Hotdamn!

Fanon on true love

the fact remains nevertheless that true love, real love -i.e. wishing for others what one postulates for oneself when this postulate integrates the permanent values of human reality -requires the mobilization of psychological agencies liberated from unconscious tensions.......... today we believe in the possibilty of love and that is why we are endeavoring to trace its imperfections and perversions.

in honor of me

You know it doesn't make much sense
There ought to be a law against
Anyone who takes offense
At a day in your celebration
Cause we all know in our minds
That there ought to be a time
That we can set aside
To show just how much we love you
And I'm sure you would agree
It couldn't fit more perfectly
Than to have a world party on the day you came to be

Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthdayi

Black History: Lost, Stolen, or Strayed

I just saw an amazing video. Perhaps it got amazing, like really amazing, toward the end. "Black History: Lost, Stolen, or Strayed," starring Bill Cosby. The ending really did something to my insides. And, I wonder if people have really seen this video. Its shows Cosby in a DIFFERENT time and place.... perhaps sheds some perspective or gives way to questions on how he sees Black America today. The video was made in 1968. Where is John Churchill and the Freedom Liberty Day School today?

yes i'm talking to you

i'm not sad ne more.

its freezing and i don't even know it!

I'm sad today. Well realy since like about an hour ago. Nothing seems to be going my way. I know I must count my blessings, be grateful for what I am blessed to have, and to not give power to my problems. Huh...but.

In Jesus name, I'll speak and see you all later. If I don't get to kiss the kids, hug them for me. I wanted to spend a lot more time with you all. But it's now down to me, and this was reinforced during this break. This is what this time has called for, thus this is what I will accept. God-willing, we'll always have tme to hang owt. Shame on you cold weather!

I wanted to dance. I could have alone, but I didn't want to. Hopefully all is well. Shame on you cold weather!

I saved your number under Don't Answer!. It now reads DONT ANSWER. I've just no patience, and I just don't wanna get ne with you. Each time I pick up I have momentary amnesia and later almost every time, the reality God-Fairy snaps me back. I keep telling myself nuthing can be that serious to just cut it all off, but this is my umpteen attemot at trying to cut it off so, if at first u dont succeed try again. Hope ur keeping warm. BYE!

arrgh...gimme my picha!

or i'll just let time go bye and/or watch martin, laugh, and be aight.

Nigerian Movies

I was watching a Nija film last night with my father. My dad is a connoisseur of Nigerian movies. The previous night we were watching "Two Can Play that Game," and my dad swore that this film had taken their ideas from the Nigerian film; i believed otherwise. So, he decided to show me the Nigerian movie, so I could see how much the two films were similar. The Nigerian movie pretty much remade the American movie adding minor variations with a sprinkle of twists and turns. Come to find out the American film was made in 2001 and the Nigerian film was made in 2003. Despite this information, my father insisted that the Nigerian film was the far mo' bettER of the two, without a doubt. I'm not too sure about that but what I am sure of is that is was the mo' funniER of the two. Read the following two classic quotes from the film. I'm sure you'll get a kick out of it :)

Background: Lady 1 and her friends just found out that Lady 1's boyfriend who just came back in to her life is getting married to another woman in the next week.

Lady 1: Aah James, you will never find happiness. You will never find favor before God and man.
Friends: Amen
Lady 1: For the rest of your life you will swim in troubled waters
Friend: James, may you rot in hell for what you did to my friend.
Lady 1: For the rest of your life, sorrow will be your companion
Friends: Amen
Lady 1: I will reduce you. I will reduce you to what you were when I met you. Ewooooo!

HILARIOUS!

Background: A friend receives advice after he was recently caught in a restaurant with another woman by his girlfriend, after telling her he was "working late."

Friend 1: Look at this guy (chuckles). Lying, what is wrong with that. Lying is part of our everyday life. Woman like to be lied to...never tell a woman the truth.
Friend 2: Never tell a woman the truth?

AWESOME!

Happy New Year!!

2009 is here and so am I.
Psalm 66
2 Sing the glory of his name;make his praise glorious!
3 Say to God, "How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you.
4 All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing praise to your name." Selah
5 Come and see what God has done, how awesome his works in man's behalf!
6 He turned the sea into dry land, they passed through the waters on foot— come, let us rejoice in him.
7 He rules forever by his power, his eyes watch the nations— let not the rebellious rise up against him.
Selah
8 Praise our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard;
9 he has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping.
10 For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver.
11 You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs.
12 You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.

13 I will come to your temple with burnt offerings and fulfill my vows to you-
14 vows my lips promised and my mouth spoke
when I was in trouble.
15 I will sacrifice fat animals to you and an offering of rams; I will offer bulls and goats.
Selah
16 Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.
17 I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue.
18 If I had cherished sin in my heart, he Lord would not have listened;
19 but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer.
20 Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!
